Manchurian? Mongolian? I don't get it!!!!

Updated: Mar 28, 2021

The Mongolian people were, and still are, people of the plains. There was even a Mongolian Dynasty during 1279–1368. The Manchurians were people of the Forest. This is one indicator and difference of the Shenyang and Being Imperial Palaces.

Below are two photos of different palaces. Beijing's Imperial Palace was built by the preceding Ming Dynasty and ended in 1644. Shenyang's Imperial Palace was built in 1625 constructed after the Beijing one but on a smaller scale. Built by the Manchurian people, which photo represents Shenyang and which one is located in Beijing.

Yes, you are correct, the green color re-creates the forests east of Shenyang in the Liaoning province. This is where the Manchurian people thrived until they finally conquered all of China. They were so ruthless, there is a piece of the great wall built by previous dynasties to keep them out. This part of the great wall is on the North Korean border with China.

The Mongolian reigned over Manchuria and most of China in the Yuan dynasty during 1279–1368. Manchurian and Mongolian are both an officially recognized minority group in China.

Below is a map that better illustrates the area discussed.

Shenyang city is in the heart of the Manchurian homeland. Outer Mongolia is current day Mongolia but without the Western part of China connected to it. Inner Mongolia was fought over by the Qing dynasty where it is currently still part of China where Mongolian minority people still reside and hold onto their original culture.

Both climates in the northeast part of Asia and north have extreme winters. The people of these lands were resilient and capable of survival through herding, farming, agriculture, and preservation.

To summarize with traditional clothes below:

Mongolian (left) = Nomadic herders living off the land. Blue resembles the skies.

Manchurian (right) = Agricultural tribal people living off the land. Green represents forest.

Below are Yurts located in Inner Mongolia.

Forests, lakes, and hills in ancient Manchuria.

Modern day "East Asia" map. Notice current day Mongolia and Shenyang near the North Korean border. China is in a shape of a chicken. The mouth is where Manchuria and Shenyang are located, the first established capital of the Qing Dynasty.
